Dynamic Warmup
The objective of the dynamic warm-up is to introduce campers to a sport-specific
dynamic warm up routine (i.e. high knees, butt kicks, carioca, inchworm, etc).
Technical Skill Isolation Stations (10-12 min per station)
The objective of the technical skill isolation stations is to introduce campers to a technical skill
such as shooting a basketball or catching a football. The focus of these stations is solely on the skill
itself. The skill will be taught in a whole-part-whole fashion where appropriate. Maximizing the number
of repetitions will be a priority.
Throughout the week, the skill will be complicated by increasing the tempo and
adding nuance and variation. By the end of the week, the campers should be performing the skill
and variations of the skill at game speed.
Technical Skill Integration Stations (10-12 min per station)
The objective of the integration stations is to integrate the technical skill into fun game-like situations.
However, this is not the time for a full scrimmage. Modified 1 on 1 and 2 on 2 games are perfect for the integration
stations. For example, if the technical skill was passing a basketball, the integration station could be a 2 on 2 game
in which dribbling is prohibited (only passes and shots permitted).
Cross Training
The goal of the cross-training is to allow the campers to get a break from their sport
and have fun in the pool, play capture the flag, play ultimate Frisbee etc.
Tactical Skill Development
This period introduces the tactics of the sport to the campers. It will include individual tactical
decision making and overall team strategy. The coach will introduce a few of their favorite
offensive and defensive plays.
Competition/Scrimmaging
The final portion of the camp each day is scrimmaging with a focus on the tactical skills that
were just learned. Tournaments and other fun competitions will also be included.
