Coed Winter Basketball Camp
Learn valuable skills, stay active, and have fun in this half-day basketball camp. Shooting, ball-handling, and defense will be among the skills covered in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. This is a great opportunity to have fun, stay active, and work on your game during winter break. The camp takes place February 19-23, 9 am – 12 pm at Mountain View High School. This camp will run in one session: February 19-23, 2018 from 9:00am-12:00pm.|
The cost of a 5-day session of this camp is $285 (or a daily rate of $65). This camp is open to kids in grades 3
through 8. Each camper will receive a basketball, t-shirt, water bottle, and drawstring backpack.
Coach Kirkendall has played 18 years of competitive basketball, including 4 years at Pioneer High School
and 4 years of intramural basketball at UC Santa Cruz . Following graduation at UC Santa Cruz, he began
coaching basketball at Mountain View High School helping out with Freshman, JV and last years' quarterfinals
CCS boys' Varsity basketball team. Coach Kirkendall is now the Head Coach of the freshman boys' basketball
this year as well as an assistant to the Varsity basketball team. Tim has recently passed the CBEST and is
about to begin substitute teaching. Outside of coaching, Tim umpires softball, referees basketball, likes to
golf, and is in a competitive adult basketball league with his fellow coaches.
Richard Appler, Associate Director
An MVHS alum, class of 2007, Richard was a four year basketball player for the Spartans, earning all-league honors in his senior season. While pursuing his degree in Broadcast & Electronic Communications at San Francisco State University, Richard is also serving as a School Enrichment Coach at St. Justin School in Santa Clara.
Richard has a strong passion for coaching basketball, and has been doing so locally for over seven years. He is currently the assistant coach of the boy's varsity team at Lynbrook High School in San Jose.
This will be Richard's sixth summer as Associate Director for Spartans Sports Camp.
