MVHS Color Guard Clinic will provide the most current and up-to-date curriculum for
flag and rifle students. With daily classes in equipment and movement technique
(including Ballet , Jazz and Modern), we will help your students strengthen critical
technical skills and cutting edge equipment work. Students are guided through exercises
to break down fundamental elements and increase technical skill and development. We offer
different levels of technique classes to allow students of all experience levels and
backgrounds to participate in a curriculum appropriate for their needs and to develop
performance abilities in beginning and intermediate students. Our clinic instructors
provide constructive feedback and positive reinforcement to all students, improving
skill and confidence in each individual and team. Students will also participate in
our clinic routines, giving students the opportunity to apply their technical skills
to the latest trends in choreography and combinations set to music.
This camp will run in one session: June 11-June 15, 2018 from 9:00am-3:00pm daily.|
The cost of a 5-day session of this camp is $395. This camp is open to kids entering grades 3
through 9 in August 2018. Each camper will receive a t-shirt, water bottle, and drawstring backpack. Lunch is available for an additional fee (click here for details). Extended care is also available for an additional fee (click here for details).
Suzi Laverty is the colorguard caption head at Mountain View High School. She implements movement, dance, flag, weapon, and general visual content in both fall and winter seasons.
Suzi began performing dance and colorguard in 2005, touring the USA with multiple California-based drum corps including the Santa Clara Vanguard, and has been teaching since 2012. She has trained in the dance styles of modern, contemporary, jazz, and ballet, which she encorporates into the colorguard's movement curriculum.
Suzi completed a bachelor's degree in studio arts and art history at San Francisco State University in 2017, with studio coursework from Michelangelo's art academy in Florence, Italy. She currently anticipates completing an Art Education credential by fall of 2019 from San Jose State University, and hopes to spread the joy of the arts throughout the Mountain View community.
