MVHS Color Guard Clinic will provide the most current and up-to-date curriculum for
flag and rifle students. With daily classes in equipment and movement technique
(including Ballet , Jazz and Modern), we will help your students strengthen critical
technical skills and cutting edge equipment work. Students are guided through exercises
to break down fundamental elements and increase technical skill and development. We offer
different levels of technique classes to allow students of all experience levels and
backgrounds to participate in a curriculum appropriate for their needs and to develop
performance abilities in beginning and intermediate students. Our clinic instructors
provide constructive feedback and positive reinforcement to all students, improving
skill and confidence in each individual and team. Students will also participate in
our clinic routines, giving students the opportunity to apply their technical skills
to the latest trends in choreography and combinations set to music.
This camp will run in one session: June 12-June 16, 2017 from 9:00am-3:00pm daily.|
The cost of a 5-day session of this camp is $375. This camp is open to kids entering grades 3
through 9 in August 2017. Each camper will receive a t-shirt, water bottle, and drawstring backpack. Lunch is available for an additional fee (click here for details). Extended care is also available for an additional fee (click here for details).
Diane Esparza is an Educational Specialist at Mountain View High School, she has been
working in special education since 1998. Diane has a long history in the color guard
and dance world starting as a performer in 1984 with the Santa Clara Vanguard B Corps.
She spent the next 13 years performing with the Vanguard moving up the ranks where she
was Color Guard Captain for the A corps from 1994-1996. Diane began teaching high school
Color Guard in 1993 at Homestead High School, she has also taught locally at Saratoga,
Los Altos, Los Gatos and is currently at Mountain View High. Diane spent some time in
Connecticut working at East Lime High School and with the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum and
Bugle Corps. Diane went back to her roots from 2001-2005 to take over the Santa Clara
Vanguard Cadet Corps Color Guard Program, In 2006 she went to work with the Vanguard A
Corps. After moving to Orange County for a few years Diane went back to work with the
cadet program from 2009-2012. She was also a part of the teaching staff for the Santa
Clara Vanguard World Winter Guard for the 2006, 2010-2012 seasons.
